Parnells U12 Blitz Reports by Cormac O’Brien (13th and 20th May 2017)

On Saturday (13th), the U12’s were in action in Pool A of the League.  Four teams visited Northwick Park on a day that saw mixed weather, dull at times but NOT the football!  Each club played to the best of their ability, even with key players missing. Parnells played four games against tough opposition and below one of our young players, Cormac O’Brien (age 14) reports on each of the games.

 

Parnells v Dulwich Harps

Parnells started slowly, letting Dulwich taking an early lead which they never relinquished. Parnells upped the pace and came more into the game in the second period.

Scorers: John Rattigan 1-0, John Horohoe 1-0 , Joseph O’Connor 0-2

 

Parnells v TCG

Parnells dominated this game from start to finish, racking up a size able score with two players scoring 5 goals between them.

Parnells v Tara

This game was a fairly even contest and remained close until the very end.  In fact, with one minute left to play Parnells were leading by one point until a goal for Tara with seconds remaining clinched the match.

Parnells v St Kiernans

Parnells took the game to St Kiernans from the start and remained in front for the duration of the match. With John Horohoe and Joseph O’Connor contributing 1-02

The following week (20/5) the U12’s were in action at St Paul’s Academy in another round of the blitz’s for Pool A.  Cormac also attended and gives his views on the games. 

 

Parnells v Dulwich Harps

Unlike the previous week, where Parnells started slowly against Dulwich, this game proceeded with Parnells having some early chances.  However the difference between the teams being the South Londoners accuracy in front of the posts.

Parnells v Tara

Tara’s took a grip on proceedings by scoring an early goal, and they never looked back . Parnells tried to turn the game around in the second half but Tara’s remained strong.

Scorers:  Declan Doran 0-01, Conor Griffin 0-01, Donncha Byrne 1-00, Callum Fitzgerald 1-00

These two teams were evenly matched and the game could have either way until Parnells finally gained the upper hand with Sean Duncan’s goal.
