PRO Club Notes Parnells GAA 4.6.2017

A busy week for the Senior Men when 3 games took place.  Thursday saw a resounding win against Harlesden Harps in the Senior LeagueA mixture of youth and experience yet again produced a winning result.  The game got off to a blistering start with a goal on the first minute by forward Matthew McHugh but the team did not capitalise on their great start and ended the first half poorly, 6 points down 1 – 06 to 2 – 09.  The half time talk fired up the players producing much better passing and shooting outscoring Harlesden Harps by 3- 08 to 1 – 02.  Thereby producing a win with the final score being 4 – 14 to 3 – 11.  A good result with a young team against a good side.  Scorers on the day; Brian O’Sullivan (1-0), Matthew Leneghan (0-1), Jake Moran (1-0), Seamus Stenson (0-7), Joe Fegan (0-2), Matthew McHugh (1-0), Eanna Flaherty (0-1), and Davy O’Sullivan (1-2).  Substitutes:  Gearoid McCarthy (0-1) for Matthew Leneghan.  Unfortunately Parnells were not so lucky on the Sunday, losing to NLS in the Reserve League and to Round Towers in the semi-final of the Tipperary Cup.  The Round Towers game was very close at times and yet again, Matthew McHugh put his name on the score sheet with a brilliant goal resulting from great link play to respond to Round Towers 3 earlier points.  All to play for in the second half but eventually losing 1-04 to 0-11.  Davy O’Sullivan contributing 0-3 along with Joe Fegan 0-1.  It would be fair to say on paper that what could be said to be an under strength side gave everything they had on the day showing team spirit and were unlucky not to convert some of their scores.
