15.7.2017 Thomas McCurtains Family Fun Day & Go Games Blitz

Thomas McCurtains held their annual Family Fun Day in Goodmeyes and Parnells had teams from the U6’s and U10’s participate.  Here are both manager’s thoughts.

U10-John Rattigan

We travelled across to Goodmayes last Saturday to the Thomas McCurtains Blitz and Fun day.

Our panel of players were:- Daniel Evans, Joe Evans, Matthew Evans, Ronan Cummings, Ronan Keran, Sean Buckley, Lorcan Moriarty, James McFadden, Thomas Keane, Tiernan Hession, Tadgh O’Slatara.

Our first game was against NLS 2 which started very well with a great display of skill by Ronan C. Sean scored some great points and we won this one comfortably.

Our next opponents were TCG. Tiernan put on a great performance with James and Ronan K scoring some good points and working well together.  This game was easily won.

Next up were St Clarets who offered tougher opposition.  Coming from behind, we managed a draw with great battling from Lorcan and Thomas who never gave up and took their scores well.

The last game in the group was against St. Finbars.  We started well with great performances from Tadgh, Matthew and Joe who linked well and scored some lovely points-we won this convincingly!

These games saw us reach the Shield Final. I thought we should have reached the cup final but somehow we “lost” on points scored by one point.

Parnells v NLS.
Lorcan took some great scores early on and linked well with Thomas -these two lads will be future London players.  A great performance was shown from Daniel and Tadgh too who never gave an inch and the rest of the boys came together winning by 7 points.

U10 Shield Winners

Congratulations to the team, well deserved winners. They were a credit to the club, all behaved themselves and I hoped they enjoyed the day as much as I did!

Thanks
John

U6-Peter Cummings

Saturday 15th saw the U6 team take part in the Thomas McCurtains Fun Day.

The team consisted of: Ben Evans, Ciara Evans, Fiachra O’Slatara, Jack Cummings, Jack Montgomery, James Butler, Kian Walsh, Laurence Wrenn

The U6 age group had a full schedule with matches against St Kiernan’s, Round Towers, North London Shamrocks and St Clarets.  The team excelled in all matches with a series of fine team performances. Ben showed some real grit and determination, tirelessly chasing the opposition; Ciara showed skill in the catch and pass in all positions; Fiachra was always in the action looking for the off load to his team mates; Jack C took a few fine scores and kept the opposition in check; Jack M showed he is calm under pressure running and passing his way out of danger; James caught, passed and scored with ease, giving the opposition a real headache; Kian covered every blade of grass on the pitch, never giving an inch; Laurence tormented the opposition all day tackling and passing really well.  It was great to see our youngest age group really starting to play well as a team, looking for each other in the pass and getting a much better sense of positioning.

As always a huge thank you to the parents and families who gave up their Saturday to travel across London for the event.

Regards

Peter
