The Under 10s had their first run out of the season at Tir Chonail Gaels in their blitz last Saturday 23 April 2016.

We were able to field two teams who both played three matches.

Parnells “Blue” comprised Tommie Mayne-Sheehy, Harry Perkins, Arron Murray, Ronan Carolan, Alex Wilson, Emer Morrissey, Sean Buckley, Ben Rossiter, Ronan Keran and Aidan Gallagher. Managers Alan Carolan and Ollie Sheehy.

Only three of the team played at Under 10 last year so it was a test for those coming up which they dealt with admirably.

The first game was a tough encounter playing uphill on a heavy pitch against the wind but the team stuck at it and kept battling to the end.

The second game saw some excellent displays throughout. Aaron Murray and Ben Rossiter started in the backs providing a solid foundation on which to build upon letting nothing past them. Tommie Mayne-Sheehy was impressive in the midfield linking up with forwards and moving in to the attacking zone at every opportunity. Ronan Keran and Aidan Gallagher reliable as always with Emer busy at all times when on the pitch. Alex Wilson and Harry were terrier like and determined with Alex’s persistence resulting in him also getting a richly deserved score. The team saved their best football for the last game dominating from start to finish ending the blitz impressively. There were a number of scores with Sean Buckley making some strong attacking runs getting the team off to a great start. A great turn, solo and score from Ronan Carolan kept the momentum going as the team went from strength to strength in their final match.

All in all for their first blitz of the season and for the vast majority of the team gaining their first experience of playing at this age group the team did well and were a credit to themselves.

Parnells “Amber” Killian Griffin, John Rattigan, Joe Loughrey,Louis Gallen,Tyler Quinlan,Joe Kilker,Paddy Rattigan,Rohan Kernan,Nadine O’Sullivan and Michael O’Brien. Managers John Rattigan and Tas (Mick Griffin)

Our first two games were disappointing with no score in either game – we looked off the pace and struggled against strong A teams from Tara’s and Tir Chonail Gaels.

The game against North London Shamrocks showed great improvement, winning the game by 3 points. John Rattigan and Killian Griffin linked well, scoring some good points. Joe Loughrey, Paddy Rattigan and Joe Kilker battled well, were first on the ball and produced some excellent blocks. Michael O’Brien read the ball well and had great passing.  Nadine O’Sullivan,  Louis Gallen and Rohan Kernan marked their opponents and tried their best.  This was the first blitz for Tyler Quinlan who showed great promise for the future.

All the children were well behaved and had a positive attitude throughout the day.  We’ll see you all for the next blitz at North London Shamrocks!
