PRO Notes 10.9.2017

A Parnells side that were not at full strength took to the field of play against KKG in the Senior Championship.  A bright start at the beginning of the game and an early lead 0-3 to 0-1 was soon overturned and KKG led at half time 1-8 to 0-4.  Parnells returned to the field and with determination added scores and reduced KKG’s lead to three points.  However, further injuries to players meant that the team struggled and eventually the game was won by KKG 1-13 to 1-5.

Team:  Evan Byrne, Jason Maguire, Jamie Barry, Joe Fegan, Paul Jacobson, Brian Foody, Steve Devine, Martin Carroll, Jake Moran (1 – 0), Gearoid McCarthy, Seamus Stenson (0 – 1f), Greg Crowly (0-1), Keefer Roche, Connor Spinks, Dave Sullivan (0-2f).  Substitutions:  Alan Callanan for Seamus Stenson-black card, JP Roche for Brian Foody, Denis Twomey for Greg Crowly and Calum Diggins for Alan Callanan.

The Reserves played Round Towers the following day in a championship round robin game. A young team that lacked games and experience in this competition put in a 100% effort but lost narrowly by 4 points, 0-6 to 0-10.

With the Minor League final postponed, the action last weekend was all about the girls who participated in the J FFrench Tournament in Greenford.  This tournament has grown and Tara GFC and the current Ladies Chairperson, Lucia Butler are to be congratulated on developing this day which was extremely well run and organised with participation at an all-time high.  Parnells girls had a fantastically successful and enjoyable day.  Congratulations to Parnells Blue who beat Dublin based Beann Eadair to win the U12 Cup for the third year in a row.  Parnells Yellow also played and both teams performed brilliantly with tough opposition along the way.  Well Done to Fiona Corrigan, her parents and players.  Full report to follow.
