The Senior Mens team saw a deserved win in the Tipperary Cup last Tuesday and featured a mixture of youth and experience which blended well culminating in a good final result. The half time score was TCG 0 – 6 to Parnells 1 – 05. The second half saw gritty football from both sides but Parnells kept their lead. Scores by S Stenson 0-6 (3f), D O’Sullivan 3f, C Spinks 1 – 01, R Forde 0 – 01 and S Devine 0 – 01. The League game on Saturday saw another closely contested game but unfortunately Parnells lost by a single point, Tara 4 – 07 to Parnells 1 – 07. Training at Northwick Park for the Seniors is going well on Tuesdays from 7.30 – 9.00pm. Always happy to welcome new players to an established and sociable club. The Parnells Golf Classic 2017 was a fabulous day, good weather, great golf and camaraderie at Mill Hill Golf Club. Many thanks to the golf club, all the golfers, sponsors on the day and friends of Parnells who made it all such a great success.
This last week saw the U18’s in action again and continued their winning form with a win over TCG/Tara 4-04 to 0 – 06. The U14’s played a tough game against Tara where two very skilful teams had a close contest. A rush of goals towards the end of the game saw a win for Tara 6 – 11 to 5 – 05. Fiona Corrigan reported that the Quiz night in Ruislip went very well. Although numbers could have been a bit higher which would have made a big difference, over £400.00 was still raised for girls development which is brilliant. Another positive step is that it has been arranged that U12 girls will now play at all U10 Blitz’s so we are hopeful that a lot more game time will now be played. Congratulations to all the Parnells players (a total of 10) who were named in the London U16 Blitz Squad: Michael Walsh, Lewis Dickinson, Patrick Peach, Luke McHugh, Ciaran Griffin, Eamonn Kane, Jojo Thabo, Niall Twomey, Eoghan Reilly and Niall Bradshaw. The London team travelled to Pairc na hEirearn on Saturday 6th May.
Training for the Youth section remains unchanged as the season gets underway. The u6/8/10 have sessions on a Wednesday from 6.30-7.30/7.45pm. The U12 Girls and their programme ‘Gaelic 4 Girls’ also taking place on a Wednesday 6.30-7.30pm. U12 Boys-Thursday’s 6.30-7.45pm, U14’s-Tuesday 6.15-7.30pm, U16’s-Tuesday 6.30 – 7.45pm. Minors linking up with the Seniors for their training sessions. Forthcoming Events: A get together for the Senior and Minors of the club is in the diary for the 19/5/2017 at Buckley’s in Queensbury. This is to formally present the new training jerseys to the Senior section by Noreen Buckley who has kindly sponsored them and also for the Minors to present some outstanding winners medals from previous years competitions. It would be great to see ‘everyone’ there. ‘Race for Sam & Liam’- Entries by envelope (available from committee members), £10 ea. with a cash prize of £500. The youth section is very busy this forthcoming weekend, currently planning for the holding two events; the U12 League Pool A Blitz on the 13th of May and the ‘Go Games’ Blitz at Northwick Park on the 14th of May for U6/8/10 and U12 girls. The latter is one of the bigger events and always enjoyable! Clubs are requested to respond to the emails circulated.
