On a beautiful Friday evening in East Lane, Sudbury, the U12’s took on Dulwich Harps in the League Semi-Final of Pool A. To get to this stage was a great achievement, all the clubs in Pool A have had some terrific games during the season. This was to be no different. The boys started off really well and led for most of the first half. Unfortunately Dulwich Harps finished the stronger team and Parnells lost by 2 points: 1-01 to 0-06. Dulwich met Tara in the final and coincidently beat them by 2 points as well. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Go Games Blitz Gael London 10.6.2017-U10 report by Tim Slattery
We took one under 10 team to the Gael Londain blitz which was held in Sunbury-on-Thames on 10th June last. It was a lovely sunny day with a stiff breeze to cool us all down.
First job was to set up the new event shelter which looks great and will no doubt provide shelter from rain or sun to our kids for many a blitz. Next job was to issue the new shorts and socks and now we were ready for the fray.
The team comprised of the following players:-
Matt Evans
Tadhg O’Slatara
Tiernan Hession
Alex Hipwell
Sean Buckley
Cian McGrath
Jake Roache
Riain McDonnell
After a slightly delayed start we got underway with a game against St Clarets White. Three games followed against Tara, St Clarets Green and Gael Londain. All our players put in a massive effort in all games which were very close encounters.
Cian who showed great commitment throughout was full of running and won a lot of good ball using it very well. Sean was tigerish in everything he did and was the driving force behind most attacks and took some lovely scores. Tiernan showed that all his hard work at training is paying off with some good possessions and lay-offs.
Riain again showed his athleticism and strong ball winning ability. He combined well with Jake who used his ‘boom’ kick to good effect and won all his 50/50 battles. Tadhg was his usually busy self, defending very well and chipped in with some lovely scores also. Alex played great football and showed that he is equally adept at teak tough tackling or spraying accurate passes around the field. Last but definitely not least is Matt who defended tenaciously throughout and also combined very well with his team mates resulted in good scoring opportunities being created.
Overall Mandy, who managed the team on the day, will be pleased with her charges but will no doubt be working on improving certain aspects of play for the next outing. Converting possession to scores will be chief amongst these as we all like to see the scoreboard ticking over!
A final word of thanks to our parents who looked after the kids and helped out the mentors. They will be proud of the children who all behaved themselves impeccably and represented the club so well.

A great response to the handing in of membership forms to date but there are still some outstanding, please ensure they are completed and passed to your manager as soon as possible. The club’s new socks and shorts have arrived and will be distributed shortly to paid up members.
Good luck to London who face Carlow this weekend at McGovern Park, Ruislip.
Also competing this weekend are teams representing U14 North London and South London in the Feile in Monaghan and the U14 Girls in the Feile in Cavan. Representing Parnells are: Patrick Murphy, Aiden Doran, Beanon Corrigan, Darragh Griffin and Ronan Hutchins. For the girls, we have Brea Corrigan from the U12 age group. A fantastic achievement for all these young players, wishing them a successful competition and good luck to all the other London club players, mentors and managers.
The club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to all those families and the communities recently effected by the tragic fire and associated events which unfolded at Grenfell Tower in West London. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all. Trish O’Connor (club member) has been instrumental in enlisting support from club members, her friends and family in collecting and sorting out donations from the Harrow area. A fantastic gesture and to be commended.
